James H. Allen Student Leader Scholarship
This scholarship was created from gifts from Jim Allen’s family, colleagues, students and friends. Mr. Allen arrived at UNCG in 1967 as the Presbyterian Campus Minister, and was named Dean of Students in 1971. Two years later he was appointed Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, a position he held for 23 years until his retirement in 1996.
Amount of Scholarship: Amount of Scholarship to be determined
Eligibility Guidelines: The Allen Scholarship is awarded to a rising Senior who has distinguished him/herself as a student leader during his/her first three years at UNCG; Must be a full time student at time of award and in good academic standing; Must have no conduct violations within the past twelve months and no problems resulting in probation or separation from the university.
Application Requirements: Cover letter and resume outlining leadership activities at UNCG; Two letters of reference (at least one must be from a peer in a group you lead on campus) Submit application by email only to Alexandra Marchesano, Director of Campus Activities & Programs at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, March 14, 2016. The annual UNCG Excellence Awards Banquet recognizes the efforts of UNCG’s outstanding student groups and leaders. All students groups and leaders are encouraged to apply. Winners will be announced at the banquet on Monday, April 18, 2016.
