Eating on Campus

Unlike living in the residence halls, where a pre-paid campus meal plan is required, living off-campus involves a host of meal options that require a student to budget both time and money. Eating out can be convenient and tasty, but it can also be expensive. Preparing meals at home may be more cost-effective than eating out, but it requires a little extra time for grocery shopping, meal preparation, and cleanup—not to mention a few basic cooking skills. Campus meal plans are also available to commuting students, allowing them to take at least some meals on campus. Most commuting students find that some combination of these choices works best for them. Regardless of whether you choose to eat out, eat in, or eat on campus, it’s also important to make healthy food choices, which will ultimately help you succeed at UNCG.

Commuter Dining Plans and Meal Plans

There are a number of meal plans for commuters. There are meal plans that will give you a set number of meals in Spartan Restaurant (in the Dining Hall) and additional Flex dollars that act as a declining balance debit account to purchase food and beverage at on-campus dining venues tax free. There are also just Flex plans – which may be preferable to students on campus only once or twice a week.  Flex dollars can be added at any time and carryover from fall to spring semester – but expire at the end of the spring semester.  Browse plans available to commuter students online.
