Fall Kickoff 2023

Fall Kickoff, a Rawkin’ Welcome Weeks event, serves to introduce students to the university’s over 250 student groups and campus departments. Traditionally taking place on the first day of class, Fall Kickoff invites students to find meaningful involvement on campus. Join us on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 starting at 11AM along College Avenue!

Fall Kickoff FAQs:

  • When is Fall Kickoff?
    • Tuesday, August 15th at 11AM-3PM on College Avenue. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held Wednesday, August 17th
  • How much does it cost to participate in Fall Kickoff as a group/department?
    • Each table is $10.00, chair is $4.00, and tent is $125.00. 
  • Is there any way I can participate without purchasing a table?
    • No; for consistency purposes all Fall Kickoff furniture is provided by the same company and outside items (excluding tents) are not permitted.
  • What should my group/department bring?
    • A table covering, promotional materials, a trifold with group information, and any group paraphernalia such as t-shirts or name badges. 
  • Can my group bring baked goods to hand out?
    • No; home-made food is not permitted at Fall Kickoff or any other student group event on campus. 
  • Will there be food provided?
    • No; however, there will be several water stations set up along College Avenue.
  • Can we sell goods during the event?
    • No; Selling items is not permitted.
  • Are face coverings required?
    • Fall Kickoff will abide by current UNC Greensboro COVID-19 policies. Please review covid.uncg.edu for the most up to date COVID-19 information.
  • When can I start setting up my table the day of?
    • Anytime after 9AM. Please do not arrive before 9AM without prior confirmation from the CAP office.
  • Are there any stipends available for student groups?
    • Yes; student groups founded during the previous academic year (Fall 2021-Spring 2022) are eligible to have the cost of their table and chair(s) covered via stipend. When registering, new student groups will have the opportunity to apply.
  • What are the payment options for Fall Kickoff?
    • We accept exact cash, check, or student group fundraising account funds. If a student group chooses the latter, funds will be automatically removed from their account. Bring all cash to the CAP Office in Elliott University Center Suite 250. Please note that university departments can use Interdepartmental Transfer (or BANFIN). 
  • When is payment due?
    • All payment is due on Tuesday, August 9th. This is exactly one week before Fall Kickoff. Groups who do not pay by the due date will have to bring payment the day-of Fall Kickoff.
  • What happens if my group does not pay?
    • Student groups who do not pay will not be eligible to participate in Fall Kickoff. 
  • My group is having trouble coming up with the money. What should we do?
    • Contact CAP at capso@uncg.edu as soon as a payment issue arises.
  • When is the last day to register for Fall Kickoff?
    • Registration closes on Tuesday, August 8th at 5:00pm. 
  • Who can be a participating group during Fall Kickoff?
    • Fall Kickoff participation is only permitted by registered student groups and university departments.
  • Can my non-university affiliated group participate in Fall Kickoff?
    • No; outside organizations cannot participate.
  • Where will my table and chairs be located upon arrival?
    • Tables and chairs will be in front of the brick wall near the Minerva statue on College Avenue. Tables and chairs are to be moved by group members. CAP staff cannot assist in table moving without prior accommodations.
  • What if I or someone in my group requires accommodations?
    • Please contact capso@uncg.edu for accommodation requests. Make the subject of the email “Fall Kickoff Accommodations Request”.
  • Who should I contact with additional questions?
    • While this FAQ is comprehensive, CAP understands that there are some things not covered. If you have any additional questions contact CAP at capso@uncg.edu.
