Fraternity & Sorority Life

Our fraternities and sororities are dedicated to providing a well-rounded experience for students with emphasis on scholarship, leadership, and service.

The Fraternity and Sorority Life community has established and developed a set of fundamental ideals within each of our members. We encourage success by holding ourselves and our peers accountable to embodying our five pillars of scholarship, leadership, unity, service, and legacy.

Register for Formal Recruitment!

Both the College Panhellenic Council (CPC) and InterFraternity Council (IFC) host formal recruitment at the start of Spring semester. Recruitment is a mutual selection process that provides a standardized way to get to know each of the sororities or fraternities in a particular council as you seek membership. CPC Sorority Recruitment will run January 27-31, 2021, and IFC Fraternity Recruitment runs February 1-6, 2021.

Information for Intake

The fraternities and sororities of the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) each manage their own membership intake activities. The best source for news on events, including informationals, is each chapter’s Instagram page. A full list of chapter Instagram links can be found here.

COVID-19 Considerations

As you know, the university has adapted to the challenges brought about by the ongoing pandemic, and Fraternity & Sorority Life is no different. Our office and our organizations are still operating, though most is taking place virtually. You can review frequently asked questions about the Office of Campus Activities & Programs and all of our student groups, including fraternities and sororities, here. Recruitment and intake activities will take place in virtual formats in adherence with university, state, and federal guidelines, as well as the organizations’ national headquarters.

Fraternities and sororities are social by design, and that doesn’t go away just because face-to-face interaction is limited. In times marked for many by increased isolation, membership in a fraternity or sorority is a great way to maintain connection – to others, to your university, and to your values. The challenges of the pandemic won’t last forever, but the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood that you forge now certainly can!

The Five Pillars of Excellence

Scholarship

Our community values success in the classroom because we are committed to life-long learning and increasing the value of higher education. As we keep our sights set on the goals of our organizational and institutional founders, we honor scholastic achievement first and foremost.

Leadership

Through focusing on leadership development we better the UNCG and greater Greensboro communities. We commit ourselves to providing the resources necessary for members to enhance skills and abilities that will aid us in our future endeavors.

Unity

Respect for individuality and diversity serves as our foundation for creating a large, unified Fraternity and Sorority Life CommUNITY. As one, we inspire and collaborate to doing something bigger altogether.

Service

We acknowledge the importance of giving back to our community; therefore, we strive to strengthen the quality of life for those in need through our constant focus on philanthropy and  civic engagement.

Service is the UNCG motto. Our Fraternity and Sorority Life community performed over 12,000 hours of community service and raised $51,000 in philanthropic efforts during the 2017-2018 Academic Year.

Legacy

The rituals and traditions that we share with our brothers and sisters all over the world helps us better understand the importance of leaving a positive impression on our organization and our university. We are committed to maintaining the relationships created here as we move on to become engaged, successful alumni.
