OUR MISSION

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Student Government Association is dedicated to making positive change and promoting an environment of open discourse and academic excellence. Our job is to advocate on behalf of all students and proactively represent the student voice to administration and staff. We strive to improve every aspect of your college experience, we are always looking for student input and opinions.

We encourage you to come to senate meetings every Tuesday at 7pm and follow us on Instagram @uncg.sga to stay up to date with all things SGA.

OUR STRUCTURE

The Student Government Association consists of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branch. Positions are filled by current students and we hold Spring and Fall elections each year.

Executive power is granted to the Student Body PresidentStudent Body Vice President, and their Executive Cabinet. The Executive Branch advocates through action such as hosting events and leading initiatives.

Legislative authority rests with the Student Senate, a 47-member body that adopts formal stances on issues of concern and promotes the general welfare of the student body.

SGA GOVERNING DOCUMENTS

The Student Government Association is guided by a set of governing documents, the SGA Constitution and SGA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These documents are used to outline the roles, responsibilities, and procedures that are to be followed by the members of SGA. Changes to these documents may require approval from the SGA Senate or the UNCG Student Body depending on the requested change and the respective document. Questions about these documents can be directed to the SGA Attorney General.

SGA HISTORY

The UNCG Student Government Association was founded in 1914 as a student-run organization that serves as the official voice of the study body. Members of the SGA strive to better the student experience at UNCG by functioning as a governing body and advocacy group through involvement in policy-making, adjudication, programming, lobbying, community services, and countless other activities in collaboration with UNCG administrators.
